“If you have this passion for music, you don’t stop doing it – it choses you and doesn’t release you.”
– Tina Weymouth
McKenzii Webster was born and raised in Memphis, TN. At a young age, McKenzii gravitated towards music. From years of piano and guitar lessons to serving as a member of the performance troupe Watoto de Afrika, she was able to further her appreciation.
During McKenzii’s four years at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, her love for music shifted from the performance side to the that of a connoisseur, as she calls herself. From McKenzii DJing on campus to organizing on-campus concerts for the likes of Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies, Phil Ade, and Latasha Alcindor (also known as L.A.). As if McKenzii wasn’t immersed enough in the music scene at Wesleyan, she also co-founded Wesleyan’s first music publication titled Wes Waves Magazine. In it’s inaugural year, Waves printed 3 issues. It also maintained an online presence through a blog updated daily.
It wasn’t until McKenzii graduated from Wesleyan that she found her true passion within the music industry – artist management. McKenzii began to utilize the skills and relationships she established during her college years to consult for and manage artists in and outside of Memphis. Her specialty being artist development and digital marketing.
McKenzii is currently enrolled in Harris Institute’s Arts Management Program in Toronto, Ontario (November 2017 completion). She is also a contributor for EARMILK.com and Honeyeecom.us, and currently manages hip-hop artist Daz Rinko through her management company The Web Consulting & Management.
